Fertility Investigations
We offer a comprehensive range of investigations and fertility assessments. Our aim is to give you a clear picture of your fertility status and a personalised treatment plan as quickly as possible, and if you are self funding your treatment, all without the need for a GP referral.
Investigations and consultations available clinic include:
- Initial fertility consultation with a specialist fertility consultant
- AMH (anti-Müllerian hormone) blood test — ovarian reserve assessment

Do you have a fertility clinic in York?

Can I have my consultation by video or phone instead of travelling?

Do I need a GP referral if I live in York?
No, not if you’re paying for your own treatment. You can contact us directly. All patients are entitled to NHS funded investigations, and our Getting Started page explains how referrals work.
Can I be seen at your clinic if I’m an NHS patient?
Yes, we treat both privately funded and NHS funded patients. You will need to ask your GP for a referral to the Hull Sub-Fertility Service, letting your GP know you wish to be seen at our clinic. Your GP will then refer you for initial investigations and a consultation with one of our fertility specialists. Hull & East Riding Fertility run the Hull Sub-Fertility Service on behalf of the NHS, and if appropriate, and it is your preference, you will continue to have your treatment with us. Before treatment, we would need you to complete a Criteria Form, which allows us to confirm that you are eligible for NHS funded treatment. The waiting times for NHS referrals at Hull are among the lowest in the region.
How quickly can I be seen?
If you are funding your treatment and investigations yourself, there is no need for a referral. In this case there is little to no waiting time for a first consultation. Once your investigations are complete, your personalised treatment plan is usually in place within a few weeks of your first appointment.
What fertility tests can I have?
The tests you will have will be based on the discussion about your medical history during your first consultation with a specialist fertility consultant. The most common investigations are an AMH blood test (to establish egg reserves), an antral follicle count scan (using transvaginal ultrasound) and, if you have a male partner, a semen analysis.
Which treatments do you offer patients from York?
Where recommended following your investigations, we offer IVF, ICSI, IUI, frozen embryo transfer, egg freezing and fertility preservation, all at our clinic in Hessle. We treat couples and solo women.

Our IVF Clinic Location
Our purpose built, state-of-the-art clinic is based in a tranquil location in Hessle, near the Humber Bridge, just a 35-minute drive from York. Ample free car-parking is provided.
All investigations and treatment procedures will be carried out by our team of specialist fertility consultants, nurses and embryologists. Our normal clinic hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, although we do carry out some procedures and clinics outside of these hours.

Our clinic is open from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, although some procedures are carried out outside of these hours. Our dedicated nursing team are on call 24/7 365 days a year for supporting patients with urgent clinical matters outside of our core opening hours.
