Updated Patient information 24.03.2020

As the situation with coronavirus (COVID-19) has developed over the last 24 hours, the care of our patients’ health and wellbeing remains our top priority.  With this in mind, to ensure that any treatment is carried out to a safe standard, we have taken the decision to suspend all treatment and investigations with immediate effect.

The Unit is continuing to provide a fertility preservation service for oncology patients.  We remain in close contact with our colleagues in the NHS to ensure there will be no impact to patients’ care.

We understand how much your treatment means to you and we are very sorry that it has become necessary to take these steps. I’m sure you will understand that the safety and wellbeing of our patients and staff has to be prioritised.

Counselling

We appreciate that this is a very unsettling time for patients.  Our counselling service continues to be available for all patients; this will be arranged on a virtual basis.  Jane, our counsellor, will contact you personally to arrange a suitable method.

Storage of Embryos and Sperm

Please be assured that your frozen eggs, sperm and embryos continue to be safe and monitoring of our laboratories will not be affected during this time.

Consultations:

Consultations will continue to take place; these will now be carried out over the telephone for the foreseeable future.

If you would like to arrange a new consultation, please contact us on 01482 382648.

We understand that these are extremely upsetting and stressful times.  During this time, if you need any further advice or support please contact us by telephone between 8am and 12pm; and, at all other times, please contact us by emailing enquiries@hullfertility.co.uk.  Our nurse on call service will operate as normal.

We wish all our patients the very best wishes during this unsettling time.
